ARCALOY 309MoL-16

Arcaloy 309MoL-16 is designed for applications requiring molybdenum with a standard 309L analysis. Ideal for cladding prior to joining stainless steel to low alloy steels. Usable on AC or DC current.

Features

Arcaloy 309MoL-16 is designed for applications requiring molybdenum with a standard 309L analysis. It is used primarily for welding type 316L and 316 clad steels, or welding molybdenum-containing austenitic stainless steel - to carbon steel, provided the service temperature is less than 600°F (316°C). Carbon content 0.04% maximum.

Extra Info

Arcaloy 309MoL electrodes are used for welding carbon and low alloy steels to stainless steels provided the service temperature does not exceed about 700ºF (370ºC). These electrodes have a higher potential ferrite content than the Arc 309L electrodes and can tolerate higher levels of dilution. If the joint is thick, the low alloy side should be buttered with these electrodes (PWHT only if required) and the joint made with Arcaloy 316LF5 electrodes. Arcaloy 309MoL electrodes are used for the first layer of 316L or 317L cladding. The basic - rutile thin coating of Arcaloy 309MoL-16 gives an excellent combination of welding performance in all positions and a high resistance to cracking. It is therefore a good choice for a multitude of welding applications including tight joints.
