Arcaloy 309/309H-15 electrodes are used for welding Type 309 and similar stainless steels for higher temperature service. In these applications, greater strength is required and a limited quantity of ferrite. They can also be used to weld low alloy to stainless steel dissimilar joints where a lower ferrite content is desired and is acceptable. In the latter case, the service temperature should not exceed 700ºF (370ºC). The basic coating of Arcaloy 309/309H-15 gives the highest resistance to cracking and excellent vertical welding characteristics. It is therefore the choice for field welding.
