ARCALOY 309Nb-16

Arcaloy 309Nb-16 was developed to control carbide precipitation in this type of alloy. Usable on AC or DC current.

Features

Arcaloy 309Nb-16 was developed to inhibit carbide precipitation in this type of alloy when the maximum corrosion and oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures is required. This electrode has given excellent performance in the welding of airplane exhaust systems. Arcaloy 309Nb-16 is recommended for welding types 347 or 321 stainless clad steels, or type 347 stainless steel to carbon steel.

Extra Info

Arcaloy 309Nb-16 electrodes are mainly used for the first layer of cladding when the next layer is to be Type 347. They can be used when there is a higher carbon content in the base metal to be clad to mitigate the effects of the carbon. Arcaloy 309Nb-16 electrodes can be used to make joints between stainless and low alloy steel when the service temperature is less than 700ºF (370ºC). They have used for thei higher temperature strength. The basic-rutile thin coating of Arcaloy 309Nb-16 gives an excellent combination of welding performance in all positions and a high resistance to cracking. It is therefore a good choice for a multitude of welding applications including tight joints.
