Arcaloy 316LF5-15 is an electrode where the composition has been balanced to give a weld deposit with a minimum ferrite content of 5 FN. Designed to weld type 316, 316L steels. Best used out-of-position on DC current.
Arcaloy 316LF5-15 is similar to Arcaloy 316L except the chemistry is balanced to give a weld deposit with a minimum ferrite number of 5. Carbon content 0.04% maximum. It can be used to weld Type 304L stainless steel where the presence of molybdenum is not detrimental.

Arcaloy 316LF5-15 electrodes are used for welding Types 316 and 316L stainless steels and have a minimum ferrite content of five as per the WRC-92 Constitution Diagram. In many cases they can also be used for the welding of Types 304 and 304L with some exceptions such as nitric acid service. The basic coating of Arcaloy 316LF5-15 gives the highest resistance to cracking and excellent vertical welding characteristics. It is therefore the choice for field welding.
