Extra Info

Arcaloy ER316L is a solid wire and is for welding stainless steel Types 316, 316L and in some cases the 200 series stainless steels where strength is not important. In many cases they can also be used for the welding of Types 304 and 304L with some exceptions such as nitric acid service. Depending upon its form, Arcaloy ER316L can be used in the MIG, TIG or submerged arc processes to name the three most common. In the case of the MIG (GMAW), spray, pulse or short-arc modes of transfer are used depending on the gas used. With this process, shielding gases of argon with 1 or 2% oxygen are commonly used for 'spray' and a mixture of 90% helium - 7.5% argon - 2.5% carbon dioxide is used for 'short-arc'. For TIG (GTAW), 100% argon or argon with some helium additions are used. A flux, such as OK Flux 10.93, is used with the larger sizes of Arcaloy ER316L for submerged-arc welding.
