Arcaloy 317L is a continuous, solid, corrosion-resistant, chromium-nickel-molybdenum wire for welding of austenitic stainless alloys of 19% Cr, 13% Ni, 3% Mo types. Arcaloy 317L can be used in combination with OK Flux 10.93 or 10.94.
Arcaloy ER317L produces a low carbon analysis and was developed to weld type 317 and 317L stainless steel. The additional molybdenum is present to prevent pitting corrosion.

Arcaloy ER317L is a solid wire and is for welding stainless steel Types 317, 317L. In many cases they can also be used for the welding of Types 316 and 316L where greater corrosion resistance is required in the weld metal. Depending upon its form, Arcaloy ER317L can be used in the MIG, TIG or submerged arc processes to name the three most common. In the case of the MIG (GMAW), spray, pulse or short-arc gases of argon with 1 or 2% oxygen are commonly used for 'spray' and a mixture of 90% helium - 7.5 argon - 2.5 carbon dioxide is used for 'short-arc'. For TIG (GTAW), 100% argon or argon with some helium additions are used. A flux, such as OK Flux 10.93, is used with the larger sizes of Arcaloy ER317L for submerged-arc welding.
