Alloy Shield 423L is a tubular, composite metal cored wire designed for hard surfacing worn steel mill concast rolls. It produces 35-40 Rc hardness after heat treatment. Used in combination with 601 flux.
Alloy Shield 423L is a "composite" submerged arc wire designed for buildup and repair of steel mill caster rolls. This specially formulated wire is intended to provide a softer as-welded deposit than the Alloy Shield 420 wire. The weld deposit resists softening after tempering above 900°F (482°C). Alloy Shield 423L is designed to operate in conjunction with OK Flux 601.
