Extra Info

Used to repair and cover defects in heavy sections of gray and alloy cast irons such as machine bases, gears, motor blocks and gear cases. It will also give strong, dense welds on irons with high phosphorus content, ductile iron and in joining these irons to steels.

Procedure

  • Clean joint area. Preheating to 600°F.(316°C.)is recommended to decrease stresses and increase strength and ductility. Use stringer beads or narrow weave beads. When more than one pass is required, the slag must be removed between passes. Do not let the part cool between passes but maintain a constant temperature. Each pass should be peened to help decrease stresses.
