Recommended for welding damaged or worn hot working punches, headers, trimmers, die casting dies, cutting dies and shear knives in hot work operation, mandrels, piercers, and ejecting rods. Also used for composite fabrication of units requiring hot work steel of nickel-chrome deposits.
Set wire amperage and adjust voltage for smoothest operation.Use 98% Argon 2% Oxygen shielding gas. Wire will also operate in the short circuiting mode or with pulse arc, and under these conditions, may be usable out-of-position. With composite fabrication of die unit, preheat to 500ºF(260ºC). To repair existing die units, preheat to 900ºF(482ºC)and do not drop below 700ºF(371ºC) during welding.
