Extra Info

Commonly used as an overlay on cast iron or steel and to join dissimilar metals. Superior for maintenance repair and fabrication of valve bodies, seats, bearings, bushing, gears, propellers, impeller blades and housings.

Procedure

Bare metal must be clean and free of all moisture. Do not let wire come in contact with moisture as this will cause porosity. Preheat copper base metals to 700°F (232°C). In TIG welding a preheated base metal should be joined using a water cooled TIG torch. These temperatures must be maintained during welding and between passes. No preheat is necessary when applying to thin copper sections or ferrous metals. Stringer beads are recommended to help reduce hot-short cracking. Argon or 75%Helium and 25% Argon are preferred as shielding gases. A mixture gives better penetration on heavy sections.
