ALL-STATE OVERLAY 5560

High carbon-high chromium, metal-cored hardfacing alloy.

Features

High carbon, high chromium, metal-cored hardfacing alloy produces wear resistant chromium carbides in a tough alloy matrix designed for high abrasion or abrasion combined with moderate impact. Use gas shielded (Argon/CO2 75/25 or Argon/Oxygen 98/2) Deposits are slag free. Use deposit thickness of 2 to 3 layers. Deposits cannot be flame cut and will check-crack to relieve stresses. Deposit hardness is 55-60 RC.

Typical applications: screw conveyors, bulldozer blades, dragline buckets, power shovel buckets and teeth, ore and coal chutes, road rippers, scraper blades.

Procedure

While all sizes of All-State Overlay 5560 will easily operate with or without a gas cover, you may find applications for .045" and 1/16" for which you prefer a shielding gas. If a gas cover is used, Argon/CO2 or 100% CO2 is recommended. This will cause amperages to go up by about 10% and the stickout should be shortened. When welding out of position, use the lower range of amperages and voltages. In addition, a gas cover may be useful, especially when using a constant current power source and voltage sensing feeder.
