PT - 36

As part of ESABs m3 plasma system, the PT - 36 forms the business end of the most advanced plasma cutting system available.

Features

Precision
• High precision torch for longer consumable life and better cut quality
• Precision close tolerance concentricity for optimum striaigh or bevel cutting, with highest cut quality and consumable life
• Posi-Thread design makes it easier to install consumables, and eliminates the worry of damaged threads on electrode, electrode holder, and torch body.

Versatility
• Extremely versatile multi-gas torch, allows you to pick the combination of gases, speed, and cut quality that you want
• Oxygen, Nitrogen, Air or H-35 plasma gas; Nitrogen, Air or H-35 start gas; Nitrogen, Oxygen/Nitrogen mix, Air, or Methane shield gas
• Low current precision cutting, conventional plasma cutting and 600 amp heavy-duty, thick plate cutting with the same torch.
• Cuts carbon steel up to 2.5" thick with 450 Amp Oxygen Plasma
• Cuts stainless steel or aluminum up to 1.5" thick with 600 Amp Nitrogen Plasma, or up to 6" thick with 600 Amp Argon-Hydrogen (H-35)

Value
• A smaller, less expensive electrode lowers operating cost
• Requires fewer parts to purchase and stock
• Current capacity of 600 Amps at 100% duty cycle
• "Speed-Loader" aids in consumable changes without the worries and leaks caused by O-rings, or the expense of spare torch bodies.
• Does not require expensive water chiller for cooling water, which reduces power and maintenance costs.

Extra Info

SpeedLoader
The special SpeedLoader fixture allows pre-assembly of the nozzle, nozzle retainer, diffuser, shield, and shield retainer. The operator can swap out pre-assembled consumable sets quickly and easily, minimizing down-time for consumable replacement or changeover. The SpeedLoader requires no expensive torch bodies and does not break any of the fluid connections when swapping parts - eliminating the risk of o-ring damage or leaks.

Fewer Parts - Easier Maintenance
The PT - 36 requires fewer parts to purchase and stock.
• Fewer than 30 consumable parts cover its full cutting range from gauge material to 6.25" thick stainless. Other systems require as many as 66 different parts, and don't even cover the same range of materials.
• With only 2 electrodes, 8 nozzles, 2 diffusers, 2 baffles, and 3 shields, you can cut from 1/8 up to 1 inch thick carbon, stainless, or aluminum.
• Fewer parts means easier purchasing, easier stock maintenance, less inventory, and easier operation.

Plasma Beveling
• The torch body and consumables are designed with high accuracy and concentricity for more consistent bevel angles and part size.
• The PT - 36 is much more robust, with heavier, thicker nozzles, cups, shields, and retainers, the PT - 36 holds up better in demanding beveling applications.
• Long, pointed nozzle keeps the front end closer to the plate when beveling, for shorter arc length, better arc control, and more accurate cutting.
Unique "Posi-Thread" design puts more metal on the outer threads, preventing damage from over-tightening. These special coarse threads on the elctrode, holder, and torch allow easier consumable changes.

Underwater Cutting
Cutting under 2 - 3 inches of water can substantially reduce the level of fumes, radiation, and noise produced by the plasma cutting process. However, oxygen plasma cutting under water requires the addition of an air curtain or bubble muffler.

Air Curtain
The air curtain uses compressed air to provide a "dry" area around the arc during underwater cutting. The air curtain, recommended for use with oxygen cutting, is the most economical approach to fume and noise control. Can be used while beveling up to about 35º.

Bubble Muffler
The bubble muffler can be viewed as a combination air curtain and water muffler. The bubble muffler system creates a bubble of air surrounded by a water shroud so that an oxygen plasma torch can be used above or below water with oxygen/water injection cutting. This system also permits cutting above water as the flow of water through the muffler reduces noise, fumes and ultra-violet radiation. The bubble muffler option is not available in all countries or on all models of cutting machine. Contact your Cutting Machine sales representative for information on availability.
