El Atom Arc 8018-B6 está diseñado para soldar aceros de 5%Cr - 0.5%Mo de poca resistencia tales como ASTM A387 grado 5, y el A335-P5. Estos aceros son normalmente usados en envases de presión y tubería de servicio de alta temperatura.

Se recomienda recalentar los aceros de 5CrMo a temperaturas de 400-500°F, dependiendo del grosor. Se requiere generalmente sea tratado el calentamiento después de soldar.
