Dual Shield T-5 es un alambre básico que resiste carga pesada sin quebrarse y es ductil en depósitos. Los diametros pequeños como .045 & 1/16" pueden ser usados en cualquier posición. Las características del arco son globulares pero pueden ser mejoradas son el uso de mezclas de Argón. Dual Shield T-5 es recomendado para fabricación media y pesada de muchos aceros al carbono donde la resistencia y la firmeza son requeridos.Es una buena opción para los aceros al carbono cuando se requiere mayor resistencia a la tenasidad y agrietamientos. También es una buena opción para aceros al carbono cuando han sido unidos, templados aceros de alta resistencia y baja aleación. El análisis del metal fundido es similar al del E7018.1 con electrodos bajos en hidrógeno.
