SHIELD-BRIGHT 309L X-tra fue desarrollado para la soldadura de aceros inoxidables o aceros de baja aleación y por la primera capa de carbono y aceros de baja aleación. Para unir secciones gruesas es preferible que los aceros inoxidables estén empalmados con una capa de Shield-Bright 309L X-tra y la unión hecha con 316L X-tra o 308L X-tra. La temperatura de la sueldadura no deberá de excederse de los 700ºF (370ºC). Shield-Bright 309LMo X-tra fue desarrollada para soldaduras en posiciones planas y filetes horizontales-verticales para tener excelentes resultados para remover la escoria concava.
