The photo-optical tracer, which provides directional signals to the drive system, is integrated with the machine controls for centralized, convenient operation. It can trace lines as narrow as 0.0122 in. (0.3mm). Forward offset produces accurate corner cuts, and kerf can be adjusted to +/- 0.118 in. (3mm). Also, machine direction, cutting speed, operating mode, and oxygen On/Off can be controlled directly from the tracer station.

The cutting speed on the Silhouette 500 is adjustable over a range of 2 - 118 ipm (50 - 3000mm/min). The machine can be equipped with up to two standard 10 in. (254mm) oxy/fuel cutting torches. An optional single plasma torch can be installed in place of one of the oxyfuel torches with the plasma interface.

Longitudinal cutting is limited by the length of the lower carriage rails. It is also limited by the length of the tracing table, when tracer cutting. This cutting length can be increased by 35 in. (900mm), with the addition of one optional lower carriage rail extension. The rail extension kit includes a tracing table extension, which similarly increases the tracing depth by 35 in. (900mm).
